A guide to our terminology.
Anonymized | When we use the term, “Anonymized”, we mean the process of encrypting or erasing key identifiers which connect an individual’s identity to stored data. |
Controller | When we use the term, “Controller”, we mean a person, public authority, agency, or other body which determines the purposes and means of personal data processing. |
Customer Content | When we use the term, “Customer Content”, we mean the content of messages, calls, recordings, shared files, and any other communications that are stored or transmitted through our Services. |
Custom Audiences | When we use the term, “Custom Audiences”, we mean a personalized list that our advertising partners use as part of a targeted advertising strategy. |
Legal Basis | When we use the term, “Legal Basis”, we mean the six lawful grounds established by the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in order to process data. These include: consent; contractual obligations; legal obligations; vital interests; public interests; legitimate interests. |
Offerings | When we use the term, “Offerings”, we mean our online services and applications and any related downloadable software. |
Personal Information | When we use the term, “personal information”, we mean any data that relates to a living, identifiable, individual person. This includes email addresses, phone numbers, location data, or other descriptors regarding a person’s identity. |
Process | When we use the term, “Process”, we mean any operation or set of operations performed upon Personal Data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation, alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, alignment, combination, restriction, erasure, destruction or disclosure by transmission, dissemination, or otherwise making available. |
Processor |
When we use the term, “Processor”, we mean a person, public agency, authority, or other body that processes personal data. Processing occurs when data is collected and translated into usable information. |
Sites | When we use the term, “Sites”, we mean our and our affiliates’ websites. |
Subprocessor | When we use the term, “Subprocessor”, we mean a third-party data processor who processes data on behalf of Smartsheet or its affiliates. |
